The ACM Library holds a specialised collection dedicated to the study of Asian culture and heritage. The library's collection reflects the ACM's research areas: Asian history, archaeology and ethnology, sociology and anthropology, fine and decorative arts, as well as museology.
The library is essentially a research centre for museum staff but the collection is also available to researchers from institutions of higher learning for on-site referencing only. Due to the limited space, the library can only admit researchers who need to refer to materials not available from other public libraries in Singapore. Appointments may be booked by writing to the librarian at NHB_Libraries@nhb.gov.sg with details of your research focus.
The library also coordinates requests for use of the museum collection’s images.
The images from the national collection may be browsed here.
Once you have made your selection, complete this form and send to NHB_Libraries@nhb.gov.sg.
Processing time for image requests is around 4-15 working days, depending on the volume of requests received.
