resource library The ACM resource library is a specialised library dedicated to the study of Asian culture and heritage. It currently houses a modest collection of 15,000 books, journals and catalogues of which a substantial portion was inherited from the former National Museum. Essentially established as a resource for the staff of the museum, the library's core collection therefore reflects ACM's main research areas namely, Southeast Asia, South Asia, China and West Asia/Islam. The collection includes books on museology to support ACM in its core business. In addition, the library is the custodian of a collection of rare books that dates back to the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. This collection is housed under a restricted section of the library and consists mainly of Dutch and French journals documenting the East Indies (present-day Indonesia) and Indo-China (present-day Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) during the colonial days. The ACM resource library is also a repository of more than 25,000 ACM-copyright images, videos and documents which are available for research and publications. To support the museum's aim of being a lead resource centre in the study of Asian culture and heritage in the region, the library allows visitors to access its collections for research and referencing, via appointment. The library also welcomes donations of books related to the museum's research areas or cash donations which will be channelled towards the development of the library's collection.
