ACM’s new location-enabled mobile app gives visitors content in the palm of their hand.
Using iBeacons, visitors on site can walk right up to a piece of art and have stories delivered to their mobile device, providing meaningful background and context.
The app enhances the museum experience with informative audio, beautiful video, and descriptive text about the museum and its collection, as well as a selection of self-guided tours, and interactive exhibition maps to help navigate the museum.
- In the “Highlights” section, visitors can find special tours: a journey through the Tang Shipwreck Collection; for instance, a 45-minute tour for those short on time; and a children’s tour, featuring content crafted specially for our most inquisitive visitors.
- “What’s On” provides information on upcoming museum events and programmes, guided tours, lectures, and festivals.
- “What to See” details the museum’s permanent galleries and special exhibitions, and offers object-level interpretation beyond traditional labels and wall texts. Questions are used to stimulate close looking and imagination around objects.
Be sure to download the Asian Civilization Museum app before your next visit for a sneak preview of the journey that awaits you
